TCBSBM/ TASB Scholarship

The TCBSBM / TASB Scholarship is funded by both Texas Caucus of Black School Board Members and Texas Association of School Board and provides a one-year scholarship for up to $3,000 to ten (10) students with average academic achievement and financial need working towards a first year college degree.  Some fields of consideration may include Business, Finance Management, Coding, Education, Technology, Engineering, or Marketing, Law or related fields.

Eligibility & Selection Criteria:

  • Only students classified as a high school graduate working towards a first year college degree are eligible to apply.

  • Students must also have a minimum 3.0 GPA and plan to attend a collegiate institution within the United States.
 
  • Selection criteria will primarily focus on career ambitions in fields of consideration , and financial need, however school and community participation, demonstrated leadership potential, essay response, letters of recommendation will also be taken into consideration.
 
  • Applicants must be of African American descent and graduate a high school from a regional location of TCBSBM member districts.

Applicants are required to complete an essay and encouraged to submit an explanation of financial need. Applicants must also submit at least two letters of recommendation. Letters of recommendation may not come from family members or friends, but must be written by teachers, employers or other professional individuals.

In addition to the requirements listed above, applicants will be required to complete an essay focused on how the recipient would benefit from obtaining this scholarship.

Award: Up to $3,000 total per student
